




Tom Takubo was first elected in to the State Senate in 2014. He is a lifelong member of the Republican Party and a distinguished member of the West Virginia State Senate, representing the 17th District.
Before entering public service, Senator Takubo built an extensive career in medicine. A graduate of Chapmanville High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Marshall University in 1995 and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at West Virginia University – Charleston and went on to pursue a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at East Tennessee State University (2004–2007). Following his fellowship, he co-founded Pulmonary Associates of Charleston, where he practiced as a pulmonary, critical care, and sleep specialist, demonstrating both clinical expertise and a deep commitment to patient care. Today, he currently serves as Executive Vice President of Provider Relations at WVU Health System.
